Charter Schools seek fair contracts from Districts
Charter school supporters were hoping to secure a model contract that would make negotiating with districts easier and a more balanced experience. The bill (SB 1528) has now been stripped down to 2 pages.
According to a story in the Tampa Bay Times...
Before the vote, charter school advocates made the case for keeping the original language. In particular, they fought to keep the standard contract. "Different districts have different rules, and they impose them on the charter school providers," charter school governing board member Charles Gibson said. "We really need some protection. We really need to set some boundaries."
