High Quality Choice Bill Moves Forward

TALLAHASSEE, FL – MARCH 19, 2015 - The Florida House Education Committee passed HB 7037 today.

"Charter schools have figured out how to achieve substantially high levels of academic achievement with the students they serve, including minority and low income students," said Robert Haag, FCPCS President. "More high quality, high performing school options are needed in high need areas. Lawmakers understand this need and are supporting policies that will help make this happen."

The school choice bill creates the Florida Institute for Charter School Innovation at Florida State University to provide technical assistance and support to charter school applicants and districts/sponsors, and encourages the replication of high-performing charter schools in high-need areas.
